When bathrooms are delivered as a complete package: The McDreams Hotel in Ingolstadt is scheduled to open in spring 2021. The special feature? Here, the bathrooms are not built individually on site, but come to the hotel as finished modules. How does that work? DEBA Badsysteme GmbH from Salzwedel has set itself the task of producing high-quality, individual and design-oriented bathroom systems in large quantities. Between 2,500 and 3,000 bathroom units for care facilities, student accommodation, housing construction and hotels leave the company’s assembly halls every year. Turnkey bathroom units were produced for the McDreams Hotel, in which Ultra enamelled steel shower trays with Upstand and minimum support are installed. The easy handling of Bette products makes this possible.

The second boarding house of the Stayery brand is being built in Bielefeld’s city centre, after the Berlin branch already opened in early February 2019. The Serviced Apartments offer is aimed primarily at guests who wish to combine the comfort of a temporary flat with the service of a hotel. The installation of the shower trays in the 126 flats in Bielefeld is as modern as the residence itself. To make installation quicker, cheaper and safer, simple plug and play solutions are implemented with the installation box Easy Connect and Minimum Support.

“Compared to the solutions we had worked with before, we were able to save almost half the time. With 126 units, this is a welcome gain in time”

Where design lives: The stilwerk Hotel Heimhude is the first hotel project of the stilwerk design platform. The idea: to transfer the design standards of the selected brands from the stilwerk cosmos into real living situations and make them tangible. This means that an overnight stay can be used to test living and shopping at the same time, because the design furnishings can also be purchased by guests for their own homes. The art nouveau villa, which is over 150 years old and located in the centre of Hamburg, combines time-honoured charm with an exciting interior, which relies on natural materials and handmade manufacturing quality. Part of the distinctive interior design are also Ultra shower trays, specially selected for the 24 bathrooms of the boutique hotel: 24 times minimalism in an exclusive matt colour.

Mittermeiers Alter Ego: Architecture studio Schroth

Keep it smart and keep it simple: when the hotelier couple Ulli and Christian Mittermeier converted a former entrepreneur's villa from the Gründerzeit in Rothenburg into a hotel, they wanted to combine the quality of a high-end design hotel with the freedom and informality of a private apartment. While the colour concept of the exterior of the house is characterised by black, transparency and openness dominate inside. The leading idea of the design: consciously omit details, and then make sure everything else is of the very highest quality. "We asked ourselves what the first thing is that a hotel guests looks at, and quickly realised it was the bathroom," explains Christian Mittermeier. The bathroom signals the standard of the hotel to the guest, and is often a source of inspiration. Therefore the hoteliers opted for generous, floor-level showers with plenty of space. The matt black of the FLOOR shower area is a perfect match both structurally and in colour for the black of the bathroom tiles, and merges seamlessly with the tile structure.

One of the rooms has also been furnished with an exclusive LUX line Lux Shape bath. With the skeleton construction of the free-standing Lux Shape, a successful concept has transferred from architecture to the interior design of the bathroom. Stable steel forms the load-bearing, open frame into which the bath made of glazed titanium steel is hung for a brilliant presentation of the softly flowing inner body and the flat edge of the bath. The centrally positioned bath is the star of the room, and gives the room its own brilliance.

From the Field: Open Design Concept

Mittermeiers Alter Ego

“The hotel ‘Mittelmeiers Alter Ego’ provides a very special experience in its rooms ... we were looking for a product that fits our open design concept. The LUX SHAPE bath meets this requirement perfectly. Its supporting structure is not a closed structure. Everyone was instantly delighted with it. It was clear that the room simply had to have this bath!”
— Martin Schroth, Architekturstudio Schroth, Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Schroth_2_hoch.jpg

“There were the great advisors who gave us architects competent advice in the early planning stage and provided us with the suitable materials ... tremendously good explanatory videos when it comes to the installation of showers, drainage systems and seals. Then there is the long warranty on the products ... the whole package is simply perfect!”
— Martin Schroth, Architekturstudio Schroth, Rothenburg ob der Tauber
“The durability of a product is an essential aspect in a hotel. The objects are exposed to very high loads — very different from at home. That’s why they have to have a certain robustness. And that is absolutely the case with BETTE products.”
— Martin Schroth, Architekturstudio Schroth, Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Boutique Hotel K7, Bad Nauheim: Doris Seher

The hotel as a machine for wild longings: the K7 in Bad Nauheim is a very special place. It is the first boutique hotel in the Hessian spa town, and yet continues a glamorous tradition. Because the legendary, exclusive Hotel Europäischer Hof opened in the same location in 1855. The operators of the K7 have made it their mission to preserve the historic building structure and still realise creative and modern ideas in new version of the establishment. The result? Imaginative! The K7 takes its guests on a journey into five individually designed themes world: the names of the rooms are La Fleur, Urban, Marmor, Artroom and Kamin.

The respective bathrooms set a counterpoint to the colourfulness, as they have deliberately been pared down to black-and-white. The shower area has been furnished with matt coloured shower trays combined with the Upstand. Thanks to this intelligent solution made of glazed titanium steel, there is no requirement for the maintenance-intensive silicone joints. The masonry is reliably protected against moisture. At the K7, the rooms inspire dreams. And it’s wonderful if the best quality is a part of it.

From the Field: Secure Solutions

“Because of the historical structure of our boutique hotel ... ceilings are made entirely of wood. And just by damaged silicone joints in the bathroom it can happen that water penetrates into the wooden beams drop by drop. This can destroy the entire substance of a house. That is why it was important to us to make use of the UPSTAND. It simply creates security.”
— Doris Seher, interior designer of the Boutique Hotel K7, Bad Nauheim
DorisSeher_hoch.jpg

“If you find out after a few years in a hotel that you have to redo the bathrooms because of cracked silicone joints, water damage in the brickwork or other porous areas, it will be really expensive! Therefore the durability of a product is extremely important for a hotel. The 30-year warranty ... is simply sensational!”

Open for views: the "Haus am See" is in Langenargen on the waterfront of Lake Constance. It is a show home of the Baufritz company, the specialist in ecological building. Thanks to the almost entirely glazed south side, the building opens up with a large terrace with views of the lake, which creates a unique connection to nature. An intelligent ventilation system automatically supplies fresh air when required. Natural, pollutant-tested materials were chosen throughout the house: rustic oak floorboards with oiled surfaces, polished Jura marble slabs, kitchen surfaces in oak and limestone. The bedroom leads past a room divider of natural tree trunks into the wellness area with a free-standing bath and washbasin of enamelled titanium steel from the Art line. Just outside the window: the lake and the Appenzell mountains - pure relaxation.

From the Field: Wonderfully Natural

For a House by the Lake

“To compliment the wonderfully natural atmosphere of the house, I wanted a free-standing bath that was kept very simple - clear and shapely ... ART meets all these criteria. I really like its refined, purist, fluid design. For me, it is a kind of classic bath, reinterpreted. The fact that it is made of steel enamel, a natural material, goes well with it. The bath expresses exactly what I want to convey.”
— Sigrid Krämer, interior designer, Baufritz
Sigrid_Kraemer_hoch.jpg

“The Baufritz company has specialised in ecological house building for decades. All of the building materials have been tested. We do not use any toxic adhesives, no polystyrene, no PU foams. For us, ‘Good for man and nature’ is a conviction that is deeply rooted throughout the company. And that includes the fact that I only use healthy, valuable materials in the interior design of the show homes. And that quickly leads us on to BETTE ... products made of glazed titanium steel.”

"Friends" — Towers, Munich, Markus Kleinhans

Rooms: 260 premium-owner-occupied flats

Urban living: the 260 condominiums of the “Friends” residential towers in the west of Munich offer modern city dwellers sophisticated architecture with the highest level of comfort. In addition to two communal roof terraces, a kitchen lounge and a gym, a housekeeper is available on request to deal with shopping, dry cleaning and deliveries, and water plants. A service app helps with reserving a place in the kitchen lounge, booking workout times in the gym and organising a window cleaner or laundry service.

The apartments themselves combine floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows with comfortable open-plan layouts. Bathroom, kitchen and dressing room are arranged in a cube system, while the storage spaces are outsourced. This results in interlocking zones within the apartments with no loss of living space. Floor-level shower continue the idea. However, 30 different bathroom layouts required 30 differently-sized shower areas. The solution? Bespoke Floor shower areas of enamelled titanium steel — simply perfect.

From the Field: Clear Requirements

“There were very clear requirements for the sanitary equipment of the condominiums for this project: high resistance, ease of care, durability, hygiene. The variety of layouts required for a product with many different dimensions. And then we also had very strict requirements for the sound insulation. With all that in mind, we decided on the Bette company. Their products were simply the best, in every respect”
— Markus Kleinhans, engineer, T.P.I. engineering

kleinhans_hoch.jpg

“... the whole product package convinces. Not only does the company meet all the requirements for a bath such as design quality, durability and resilience, but also for sound insulation. It also provides a complete solution in terms of moisture protection. So all the challenges are solved by a single manufacturer. Which makes our lives as planners much easier!”
